What to do with this?

Posted on June 3rd, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

I am not really sure what to do with this.  I have had a lot of great post on this and spent a lot of time on it.  I have had a lot of good post on this but I think that Mr. Mayo is going to have to take care of this.  He can delete it if he wants to or he can keep it but it is no longer my responsibility.  I dont want to sound mean but it is the truth about it i dont really want this.

Good Bye

I am sorry that I am going to have to leave all of my writters.  I know that you have been folllowing my writting with a passion and this may kill you to know that I am not going to continue this blog any longer.  My writting has really grown this year.  I started out not a good writter at all but know I can really say what I think.  This class has really helped me grow as a writter.

The final post (Thank the Lord!)

Posted on June 3rd, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

This will be my final post, ever.  Yes ever.  I hope no one is to upset about this but I am going to have to move on from this weblog.  I have been posting and after I am done with this it will be the last time I ever right on this.  I have had a weblog for two years and it is going to fell really weird not having one anymore.  Possibly, one of my future teachers, maybe an english teacher, will have blogs again and I will be an expert at it compared to other people because I have already done this for 2 years.

Soojin

Posted on April 25th, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

Sooijin is a 10th grader that’s lives in
South Korea, and he has brought a very smart point to my attention.  He says that teachers should give there students more freedom in there writing and I could not agree with him more.  My English teacher, Mr. Mayo agrees.  When a student is forced to write something they do not put as much thought into it and effort as they would if they had a choice.  When you have a choice about what you are writing about you get more into it, which makes for better writing.  Also, when you have a choice about what you are writing you become a better writer in general.  A lot of times in life you are going to write about personal things, the better you are at it the more opportunities you have.  For example, if you are writing a job application it is about you, not some homework assignment you had in 8th grade.  Writing freely is what is really going to help you not the boring English.

Weekly post

Posted on April 25th, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

Every year I and my family go to Canada together for about 2 weeks.  I have done it every year since I was a little kid.  We go the beach hang in the beach house and go to drive in movies, something that I can only do in Canada.  This year I have the biggest swim meet of the year at the same time.  I have been training for it since September and it is going to be the last time that I swim in it until I am 16.

This is the only time of the year that I can see all mycousins at the same time.  It’s something that I have always looked forward too but I think that I am going to have to miss it this year.  The meet is in Buffalo so I might be over to head over there when the meet is done and hopefully some people will still be there, but there are no guarantees.  The meet is with the entire North East, so it is a huge honor to have qualified for it.  It is a really hard decision to make but I think that I am going to go to the meet.  For the first time ever I will not be in Canada with the rest of my cousins…

Thesis Essay

Niklas

Period 63/20.08

Mini Thesis Essay

The country of Sudan is located in
Africa.  There are three regions in Sudan, West Darfur, North Darfur, and
East Darfur.  In those regions genocide is going on.  Yes, genocide.  No matter what the United Nations or the UN wants to call it, that is what it is.  The region with the most amounts of problems is
West Darfur.  That region borders neighboring country
Chad were the violence is spreading over to as well.  The main source of violence comes from a gang called the Janjaweed.  O by the way happens to be paid by the Sudanese government.

The Janjaweed are going through towns killing, rapping and burning villages.  The Government publicly denies paying them but I strongly disagree.  They have provided money and assistance to the militia and have participated in attacks targeting the Black African tribes from where the Rebels draw support.  The rebels are the enemies of Janjaweed.  So why would the government want to kill off so much of there population?  The rebels were the people to start the war by demanding more money to the normal person.  So the government went out maid a militia and paid them to kill of the rebels.  The only problem was that they did not stop at the rebels.  They killed anything in there way.  So now completely innocent people are being horrifically killed or being forced to leave there homes.

The war has gone on now for more then 5 years, and it is time to stop it once and for all.  The UN is not doing enough to stop it but neither is the normal person.  Knowledge is power, and not everyone knows about what is happening in
Darfur.  So one thing that you can do it tell your friends about
Darfur then ask them to tell there friends, then there friends and then more and more people will know.  You can also donate money to Darfur charity’s or buy a
Darfur wrist ban.  Every little thing matters, so do your part to help stop the genocide in
Darfur.

Fredrick Douglas Summary chap. 2-4

Posted on February 27th, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

In chapter 2 Frederick Douglas,
Frederick tell us about his master and his family.  His master’s name is Captain Anthony and he has two sons, and one daughter.  His master’s house is part of a plantation owned by Colonel Lloyd.  He is a very wealthy landowner in Talbot
County.  Captain Anthony job is to watch over a certain part of land that he was assigned to and a certain amount of slaves.  Colonel Lloyd owns around 400 slaves and 20 farms.  All main transactions must go through him.  He can be very mean though.  Another overseer is Mr. Severe, his name goes with his personality.  He is incredibly mean and was hated by all the slaves.  Soon after
Frederick arrives Mr. Severe dies and someone replaces him called Mr. Hopkins.   Mr. Hopkins was really liked by the slaves.  The slaves are given barely enough clothe and food to survive.  In chapter three it talks about how Colonel Lloyd has a famous garden where he grows fruits.  Slaves would get into it and eat all the food, so he put tar around the fences and any slave found with tar on them would be severely punished.  Colonel Lloyds has so many slaves that some of the slave’s don’t know who he is.  One day he talked to a slave that did not know who he was and asked if his owner was good and nice.  The slave bad mouthed about his owner not knowing he was talking to him.  Three weeks later he was taken away from his friends and family and sent to
Georgia.

HOBO’S ON THE RUN!!!!!!!

My favorite post is one I did on someone else’s blog but it was about the crisis in Darfur. I found this article on the internet and it talked about how the food supply is being completly cut off to the people in Darfur. This was my favorite post because i got a lot of views and comments. It was really exciting to look at the hit counter and see hits from around the world. One thing in my writting that has really improved was the process of putting words onto the paper or into the computer. It use to take me a while to write things out but now it seems like the words just flo out. It is a lot easier for me. One thing I do need to work on is my spelling. Coming from the french immersion english in a way is sorta like my second language, so spelling is difficult for me. The more I work on it the better that i will get.

Many Voices for Darfur

Posted on February 7th, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

On March 6th, Mr. Mayo’s grade English class is asking students from around the world to leave thoughtful, well written comments about the conflict in Darfur. You can leave these comments on http://manyvoicesvoicesdarfur.blogspot.com or hhtp://stopgenocide.wikispaces.com. Right now there is all lot going on in Darfur. One that is happening right now is that Darfur is trying to make a truce with Chad. Chad is a neighboring country to the east of Sudan. A lot of refugees from Darfur have crossed the border to Chad to escape the violence. Unfortunately, one of the main sources of violence has followed them over. Now both countries have a big problem.

Two connections

Posted on January 2nd, 2008 in Uncategorized by three12

One connection between the penguins and Animal farm is that they are persuaded very easily. Within six hours of the new penguins being there they completly changed and became active. In animal farm the same thing happened to the animals. Once the pigs decideed that they wanted to be the leaders of the new farm everyone pretty much bowwed downed to them without questions. Also, in this articel the humans are completly comfuseed and dont understand how this is happening. They want it to stop but dont know when it will. In Animal Farm the humans never saw it comming, and they are really hoping that it stops soon but they dont see a end in the near future.
